Port Blair, December 13: Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) A. K. Singh, visited the Police Head Quarters, Atlanta Point today and reviewed the functioning of the Police Department. Shri Sudhir Yadav, DGP, A&N Police, through a multi-media presentation, apprised the Lt Governor about the organizational set-up, the strength and the activities of the Police Department. While expressing his satisfaction on policing in the Islands, the Lt Governor said that Police Department should ensure that there should not be any let down on the law and order front in the Islands.
The Lt Governor also lauded the initiatives taken up by the Anti-Corruption Unit of the A&N Police in checking corruption cases, and also appreciated the improvement in the training school and IRBn. Directions were issued to continue the good work.
Later, the Lt Governor also visited the Fire Service Station and witnessed the fire fighting and disaster rescue equipment displayed there. He enquired about the preparedness and response time by the fire personnel during contingencies.
