Port Blair, Sept 22: A meeting of all members of A.T.O. under the Chairmanship of their President Mr. M. Vinod, was held on 22/09/13 at Hotel N.K. International to discuss various problems faced by Tour operators. During the meeting various points regarding problems of Tour Operators were discussed viz Hike in boat fare by private boat operators for Ross Island, North Bay, Viper Island and Jolly Bauy; Shortage of Govt. boat for Neil and Havelock Island; Delay in regularizing Tourism policy; Double standard applied by Tourism Department while printing Brochures; Different rules for participating in TTF & IATO and Closure of Fisheries Museum on Wednesday.
It was further decided that a delegation of members of ATO lead by its President will meet the Director of Shipping services regarding providing adequate boats by D.S.S. for Neil & Havelock Island and also the delegation will meet Secretary Tourism and apprise him about the biased approach of Tourism Dept. while implementing various projects and also about the undue favours given to one particular group. It was also decided to meet the Director Fisheries and request him to reconsider the demand of closing Fisheries Aquarium on Wednesdays as all other museums included in City tour are closed on Mondays.
The Association also decided to discuss the matter of increasing of Vehicle hire charges with S.T.A. in consultation with other allied Associations.
The meeting concluded with passing a resolution that the present committee of A.T.O. under the President ship of Mr. M. Vinod will continue and no new committee will be formed as of now.
