Port Blair, Sept 22: Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) A K Singh, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, today inspected various guest houses like Horn Bill Nest, South Point Circuit House and Andaman Teal House. He took a round of these guest houses and expressed his dissatisfaction with the operation and maintenance of these guest houses. Directions were issued to the Secretary (GA), Secretary (Tourism) and Chief Engineer (APWD) to carry out the necessary repair, renovation and refurbishing works in these guest houses. APWD has been asked to complete the repair and refurbishing works in the Horn Bill Nest by December this year.
Directions were issued to convert the four sea-facing rooms at Horn Bill Nest into deluxe cottages. All rooms should have basic facilities, like tea making facilities. Besides seating arrangements and planting of ornamental plants should be done to make the lawns and surrounding areas look beautiful.
Thereafter, the Lt Governor visited South Point Circuit House and inspected the facilities there. Directions were issued to the Chief Engineer (APWD) for proper up-keep and maintenance of the guest house as well as up-gradation of guest facilities. Chief Secretary has been asked to look into the possibilities of providing trained hostesses to supervise housekeeping arrangements.
Later, the Lt Governor visited Andaman Teal House and took a round of the complex. He has asked the Secretary (Tourism) and Chief Engineer (APWD) to prepare a long-term plan for the up-gradation of Andaman Teal House while taking up immediate measures for its maintenance. He also issued directions to the Secretary (PBMC) for ensuring cleanliness of the surrounding areas of all these guest houses.
