Port Blair, Sep 13: Nine Myanmarese poachers have been apprehended by A&N Police on 12th September (Thursday) from Twins Islands, off Wandoor. The engine dinghy of the poachers has been seized.
On receipt of information from fishermen about sighting of suspected poachers near Twins Island, teams of Police Marine Force and PSs Humphrey Gunj & Aberdeen moved swiftly in two fast interceptor boats M.V.
Aberdeen & M.V. Track to launch an operation in the Twins Island area. Seeing the anti- poaching police parties, the poachers abandoned their boat and fled into the jungle. In the combing operation, nine poachers were apprehended.
Approximately 100 kg of Sea Cucumber, HSD oil-150 liters (approx.), Diving Pipe-6 bundles, Salt- 6 bags, Rice 120 kgs, Compressor- 2 Nos. Compressor Engine-1No., Compressor Cylinder-1 No. alongwith their Engine Dinghy and other consumables items etc. were seized & brought to PS Humphrey Gunj. Later they were handed over to SHO PS CCS for further legal action.
