Port Blair, Sept. 5: The Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) 2013 of the Naval NCC cadets of A & N got underway at Naval Jetty by embarking warships for the ‘day at sea’ and demonstration of Amphibious Operation by landing ships. Around 350 cadets including girls from the Navy, Army & Air Force embarked the warships . The ships sailed into the high seas for the search and rescue operation, firing at targets and high speed maneuvers by the participating ships. The commanding officer of ship explained the cadets the Amphibious Operation by the landing ship and the utility of it during war or natural disaster for
landing directly into the beaches where jetties are not available. The cadets had a wonderful time on board ships & they were thrilled to watch the warships maneuvers, heli operations conducted for recovery of survival at sea etc. The cadets were provided with refreshment and lunch during the visit.
Addressing the cadets the Mr. John E. Mathew CO Cdr of NCC explained the schedule of camp, which is mainly conducted at Mayabunder because of the initiative of the Mr. D.N. Singh Secretary Education so that the cadets from Carnic, Campbell Bay etc will have an opportunity to visit and interact with those from North and Middle Andaman. He also motivated them that they had chosen the right platform for over all development through NCC. He urged them to try to get “C” certificate and join the Armed forces and informed them that they will be exposed to various activities such as firing, training, cultural activities, sports and games which would enhance their overall development.
Lastly, he told them to enjoy the camp and make friendship across barriers and wished them all the best for the camp. The CO lauded the support extended by A & N Command for the upliftment of the youths of the Islands through the NCC banner.
