Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 20: Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Shivapuram, Mr. Venkateswar Rao, has appealed to residents of TV Kullam, RC Nagar and Ward Nos. 1 and 2 of Dharmapur to extend their full cooperation during the 10-day closure of the CFO Nallah Steel Bailey Bridge for repair and maintenance works.
In a message , the Pradhan urged villagers to cooperate with the authorities and support the repair work so that it can be completed within the scheduled period and normal vehicular movement can resume at the earliest.
The CFO Nallah Steel Bailey Bridge will remain closed to vehicular traffic from September 20 to September 29, 2026, as per an order issued by the Additional District Magistrate, North & Middle Andaman, Mayabunder.
The closure has been necessitated to facilitate various repair and maintenance works, including removal of decking plates, installation of Bailey Bridge components and painting work underneath the bridge. The concerned department has been directed to complete the works within the stipulated 10-day period and facilitate reopening of the bridge at the earliest.
The Pradhan’s appeal comes in view of the inconvenience likely to be faced by residents during the closure, with cooperation from the affected villages being considered essential for ensuring that the repair works are completed on schedule.
