Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 18: A new platform for youth-led social and civic engagement took shape in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on 17th of September 2026, as thirteen young leaders, social activists and civic-minded citizens came together to formally establish the Islanders Youth Front.
The founding assembly was held with the common objective of creating a unified platform through which the youth of the Islands could come together, identify issues affecting their communities and contribute meaningfully to the development and welfare of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. After detailed deliberations, the members unanimously resolved to constitute a Pan-Andaman & Nicobar youth organization dedicated to service, awareness, youth empowerment and nation-building.
The name “Islanders Youth Front”, proposed by Mr. Siddhanth Rai Sharma, was placed before the founding assembly and was unanimously accepted by other founding members. The members felt that the name reflected the shared identity of the people of the Islands while representing the collective spirit of young Islanders who wish to work together for the welfare and progress of their communities.
Mr. Ayush Raj Speaking during the founding assembly, the members highlighted the need for a disciplined and constructive youth platform in the Islands. They observed that young people have an important role to play not only in education, employment and personal development, but also in community service, civic awareness, social responsibility and addressing issues that affect everyday life in the Islands.
The Islanders Youth Front will seek to bring young people from different parts of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands onto a common platform and encourage them to participate in constructive social activities. Its work will focus on promoting national unity, patriotism and civic responsibility among the youth, while creating opportunities for education, skill development, leadership, health, sports and community engagement.
The organization will also work towards bringing issues concerning Islanders to the notice of the appropriate authorities through lawful, democratic and constructive means. It intends to engage with government departments, agencies and other institutions wherever possible to improve awareness and facilitate access to youth-oriented schemes, programmes and opportunities.
Another important area of focus will be the preservation and promotion of the Islands’ rich cultural, historical and social heritage. Through awareness programmes, community activities and youth participation, the organization aims to encourage a greater understanding among young Islanders of the history, identity and heritage of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
At the founding assembly, the first office bearers of the organization were also unanimously appointed. Mr. Siddhanth Rai Sharma was appointed as President, Mr. M Vinesh and Richardson AB. Nathan as Vice-Presidents, Mr. Ayush Raj as General Secretary, Mr. Swagatham Das as Treasurer, and Mr. Ritis Ram as Media and IT In-charge. Mr. Ram Mayank and Mr. Shubham Poddar as Additional Joint Secretaries, and Akansha Deshmukh, E. Ankita, Mr. Himanshu Kumar, Pavan Adarsh and Partiv Sen as Executive Members were also appointed to form the founding Central Body of the organization.
Addressing the gathering, the newly appointed President, Mr. Siddhanth Rai Sharma, elaborated the aims and objectives of the Islanders Youth Front” The President further emphasized that the organization would seek to provide young Islanders with a platform where they could come together beyond individual differences and contribute their time, ideas and abilities towards the welfare of society and the Islands.
The founding proceedings concluded with the thirteen founding members formally declaring themselves constituted as the Islanders Youth Front and taking a collective pledge to work sincerely towards the aims and objectives of the organization. The gathering ended on a patriotic note with the members joining together in the chanting of “Vande Mataram.”
The Islanders Youth Front is a newly established social, national and patriotic youth organization based in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The organization seeks to create a common platform for the youth of the Islands and work in the areas of youth unity, social service, welfare, empowerment, civic awareness, education, skill development, sports, cultural and heritage awareness, and the raising of local issues through lawful and constructive democratic engagement.
The founding members stated that the organization will strive to remain connected with the concerns and aspirations of young Islanders and work towards creating opportunities for greater participation of youth in the social and developmental life of the Islands.
