Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 18: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Kolkata, has issued a weather warning for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands for the coming days, along with fishermen and farmer warnings.
Weather Warning: Saturday, September 19: Heavy rainfall of 7–11 cm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of 40–50 kmph and lightning are also very likely to occur at one or two places. Sunday, September 20: Heavy rainfall of 7–11 cm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of 40–50 kmph and lightning are also very likely to occur at one or two places. Monday, September 21: Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of 40–50 kmph and lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Tuesday, September 22: Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of 40–50 kmph and lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Wednesday, September 23: Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of 40–50 kmph and lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Thursday, September 24: Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of 40–50 kmph and lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Fishermen’s Warning: Squally weather with wind speeds reaching 40–50 kmph and occasionally gusting to 60 kmph is likely to prevail along and off the Andaman & Nicobar coasts during September 19 to 22, 2026. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Andaman & Nicobar coasts during the warning period.
A Swell Surge Alert has also been issued for the coast of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Farmers’ Warning: Saturday, September 19: Very heavy rainfall of 12–20 cm is likely over South Andaman and Nicobar districts, while heavy rainfall of 7–11 cm is likely over North and Middle Andaman districts. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 40–50 kmph are also likely over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
