Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 30: An awareness program on the “GEMS of India” contest, an initiative launched by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, was organized at Mahatma Gandhi Government College (MGGC), Mayabunder.
Delivering the key address, the chief guest, Mrs. Neerja Gupta, Nodal Officer for GEMS of India campaign for the A&N Islands and Arunachal Pradesh, WAVES OTT interacted with the students and provided detailed insights into the “GEMs of India” contest. She highlighted that the initiative aims to discover, nurture, and showcase young, emerging talents across the nation. During her interactive session, she explained the registration process, eligibility criteria, and key guidelines of the contest, encouraging students to actively participate and bring recognition to their district and the Union Territory on a national platform.
In his welcome address, the Principal MGGC, Dr. R.V.R. Murthy, emphasized the importance of such national initiatives in bridging the gap for students in island regions and providing them equal platforms to highlight their talents. The interactive session provided students with an opportunity to clear their queries regarding participation, submission themes, and evaluation procedures.
