Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 30: The District Administration, South Andaman, in coordination with the concerned departments and local bodies, is organising the Inter-Village Level Cultural Competition – DC-SP Cup under the theme “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” at various locations across South Andaman District.
As part of the ongoing competition, Nukkad Natak and Group Singing Programmes were conducted at various locations with the objective of promoting community participation, encouraging local cultural talent and spreading awareness among the public, particularly the youth about the harmful effects of drug abuse and substance addiction.
At Chidiyatapu Beach, a Nukkad Natak along with a Group Singing Programme was organised with active participation from school Children, youths representing various Panchayats. The programme was graced by Ms. Purva Garg, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, as the Chief Guest and Ms. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, District South Andaman.
The participating groups presented engaging cultural performances carrying strong social messages on the ill-effects of substance abuse and the importance of adopting a healthy, responsible and drug-free lifestyle. A panel of judges was also present to evaluate the performances and award points to the participating groups based on their performance. A good number of members of the general public attended the programme and appreciated the performances.
A particularly encouraging response was witnessed at Little Andaman, where the programme held at Netaji Nagar witnessed a large gathering of local residents and community members. The enthusiastic participation of the public reflected strong community support for the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” campaign. The performances were well received and effectively conveyed the message of collective responsibility in creating a safe, healthy and drug-free society.
The cultural programme was also organised at the Community Hall, Shyam Nagar Panchayat, Swaraj Dweep, where local cultural groups actively participated and presented their performances.
The Inter-Village Level Cultural Competition – DC-SP Cup provides an opportunity for local youth and cultural groups to showcase their talent and spread awareness through art and culture. Through such initiatives, the District Administration aims to encourage public participation and inspire the youth to contribute towards the vision of a Nasha Mukt Yuva and Viksit Bharat.
The cultural programmes under the DC-SP Cup will continue at various locations in the District. A cultural programme is scheduled to be held tomorrow, 30th August, 2026, at Wandoor Beach, and the public is encouraged to participate and extend their support to the campaign.
