Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 19: An enquiry into allegations of cheating on the false promise of providing Government jobs has found prima facie evidence against three persons.
According to the enquiry report, statements of five complainants were recorded during the investigation, although it is learnt that there are many more victims. The complainants consistently alleged that the accused persons induced them to pay substantial amounts of money by promising to secure Government employment for them.
The enquiry found that money was allegedly collected through cash, cheques and online transfers. In some cases, agreements, promissory notes and undertakings were also reportedly executed, with assurances that the promised appointments would be arranged or the money would be refunded within a stipulated period.
However, despite allegedly receiving the money, the accused persons neither arranged the promised Government jobs nor refunded the amounts in full, the report stated. When the complainants demanded either the promised employment or repayment, the accused allegedly shifted responsibility among themselves and continued to mislead them.
The statements recorded from the complainants were found to reveal a common modus operandi and corroborate one another. The enquiry report observed that the allegations indicated that the three accused persons had acted in concert to allegedly cheat multiple individuals on the pretext of providing Government employment.
The enquiry concluded that there was sufficient prima facie evidence to indicate that the three accused persons, one male and two women, had allegedly collected money by falsely promising Government jobs and subsequently failed to provide employment or return the full amounts. As the accused have not been arrested so far and the inquiry is being conducted from various angles, Andaman Sheekha Daily is not publishing their names. Sources said that an FIR has already been registered at Pahargaon Police Station and a detailed investigation is currently being conducted by the police.
