
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 17: The two-day Block Mela cum Tribal Food Festival was successfully organised on 15th and 16th August 2026 at Nancowrie. The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS), Kamorta, actively participated in the programme by setting up a departmental stall that showcased various departmental activities, livestock development initiatives, veterinary services, ongoing schemes and public awareness materials.
The departmental stall highlighted the key services and schemes being implemented by AH&VS for the welfare of livestock farmers and tribal communities in the region. Information on animal healthcare, breeding programmes, fodder development, disease prevention and various central and UT schemes was effectively displayed for the benefit of the visiting public and farmers.
The programme was conducted smoothly with the dedicated efforts, active participation and excellent cooperation of all the departmental staff. Their collective teamwork, coordination and commitment contributed significantly to the smooth functioning and overall success of the departmental stall.
It is a matter of great pride that the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services secured the First Prize in the Block Mela. This achievement reflects the sincere efforts, professional presentation and dedication of the Senior Veterinary Officers and staff involved in making the departmental stall informative, attractive and impactful.
The recognition is a proud acknowledgment of the Department’s continued efforts towards livestock development, veterinary healthcare, farmer welfare and public awareness in the Islands.
