Mayabunder, July 25: As part of the implementation of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) across the UT, the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) has been made operational at Dr. R. P. Hospital, Mayabunder and Primary Health Centre (PHC), Tugapur. With this implementation, both healthcare institutions are now digitally enabled aiding in seamless and efficient patient services.
Dr. R. P. Hospital, Mayabunder was onboarded onto the NextGen eHospital platform last year, while PHC Tugapur was onboarded onto eSushrut Lite HMIS on 24th July, 2026, marking another significant milestone in the digital transformation of healthcare services in the A&N Islands. The formal launch of the eSushrut Lite HMIS at PHC Tugapur was attended by Dr.Shailaja P., Chief Medical Officer In-charge, Dr. R. P. Hospital, Mayabunder, along with Medical Officers from Dr. R. P. Hospital and PHC Tugapur.
The eSushrut Lite HMIS provides digital OPD registration and e-Prescription services, thereby streamlining patient registration, maintaining Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), reducing paperwork, enhancing transparency, and improving the overall quality and efficiency of healthcare service delivery.
During the launch, Dr. Shailaja P. encouraged all healthcare personnel to actively use the eSushrut Lite HMIS and emphasized its significant role in improving patient care, hospital administration, and the delivery of quality healthcare services. Dr. Arnold Ashu, Specialist (Anaesthetist), Dr. Alice Bwa, Medical Officer, and Dr. N. Haney Nickyson, Medical Officer, PHC Tugapur, also addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of adopting digital healthcare systems. Mr. Protap Dhali, Assistant Project Coordinator, ABDM, also addressed the gathering.
The public visiting Dr. R. P. Hospital, Mayabunder and PHC Tugapur are advised to carry their ABHA Card or their Aadhaar-linked mobile number to facilitate quicker OPD registration and easy access to their digital health records through the ABHA App. The ABHA App can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and enables users to securely access and manage their digital health records from anywhere in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and across the country.
