
Sri Vijaya Puram, July 24: The Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, in collaboration with the Directorate of Education and the Directorate of Tourism, is organizing the 2nd Edition of the Monsoon Beach Volleyball Tournament at Corbyn’s Cove Beach in the Open Men and Open Women categories. The tournament aims to promote beach volleyball, encourage sportsmanship, and provide an exciting platform for volleyball enthusiasts from across the Islands to showcase their talent.
The tournament got off to a pleasant start today, with players displaying exceptional athleticism, teamwork, and determination on the sandy courts. Several matches witnessed intense rallies, powerful smashes, remarkable digs, and closely contested finishes, keeping the spectators thoroughly entertained. The lively atmosphere at Corbyn’s Cove Beach, coupled with enthusiastic support from the audience, added to the excitement of the opening day’s competition.
A total of 26 matches were played on the first day across the men’s and women’s categories. Altogether, 39 teams are participating in the tournament, which is open to all. The competition will continue tomorrow with the semi-final matches in the Open Men and Open Women categories commencing from 2 pm, followed by the final matches at the same venue. Volleyball enthusiasts and the general public are invited to witness the thrilling conclusion of the tournament and cheer for the competing teams.
