
Sri Vijaya Puram, May 14: The valedictory function of the On-Job Training Program (OJT) organized by the Fishery Survey of India (FSI), Sri Vijaya Puram, for Government ITI trainees was held successfully at the FSI campus.
Mr. A. Tiburtius, Deputy Director General (Fisheries), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mr. Ch. Venkatesh, the Principal of Government ITI, attended the function as the Guest of Honor. Officers and staff members of the Fishery Survey of India, trainees, and guests were also present during the program.
The training program was conducted to provide practical exposure and technical skill development to ITI students in various aspects of marine fisheries, fabrication of fishing gear, net mending, safety at sea, and onboard operational activities related to fisheries survey vessels.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. A. Tiburtius praised the Fishery Survey of India for providing practical training to young technical students. He stressed the importance of skill development, discipline, and hands-on industrial exposure to enhance employability in the marine and fisheries sectors, noting that the field offers many job opportunities. The Fishery Survey of India is ready to provide post-institutional training on board the vessel MFV Blue Marlin to students who have completed their two-year vessel navigator trade at ITI.
The Principal of the Government ITI expressed gratitude to the Fishery Survey of India for providing valuable industrial training opportunities to students and highlighted the importance of institutional collaboration in strengthening technical education.
Mr. B. Balanayak, Mechanical Marine Engineer, FSI, Sri Vijaya Puram, highlighted that, for the very first time, the FSI Sri Vijaya Puram base has successfully conducted a 45-day on-job Training program for the ITI students, and ensured that FSI is committed to providing training programs for students in the future and to being a part of National Skill development in our Country.
During the program, certificates were distributed to the trainees who successfully completed the training. The trainees shared their experiences and expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to gain practical knowledge and exposure to real-time operational systems.
Earlier, Dr. C. Babu, Fisheries Scientist and Course Officer for the OJT program, welcomed the participants and highlighted the trainees’ achievements during the training program. The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Puran Singh Jr., Fisheries Scientist.
