Port Blair, June 09: The tailoring, fashion, deign, embroidery and sewing machine repair training for 30 trainees arranged UNNATI in association with Nilambur Gram Panchayatghar with the support of NABARD was inaugurated by Smti. Suamari Roy, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Nilumbur on 08.06.2013 at 11 a.m Mr. C. Mohammed, President, UNNATI while welcoming the gathering said that in Baratang Islands where there is large number of unemployed youths both boys and girls who are interested for self employment were advised to go in for food processing, tailoring and tourism related activities. He said keeping this in view UNNATI decided to arrange quality training in tailoring with the help of specially trained instructor of USHA International New Delhi. He further said in next month UNNATI is going to start food processing training at Baratang with special focus on Crab Pickle which can be sold to tourists with attractive packing. Now live crab is exported to mainland by middleman. If local people go in for value added crab products they can earn more income. He also said that UNNATI is also organizing training on various masala preparation training after hiring food consultant from Bangalore on or about 10.07.2013. Regarding problems of fund for making village earthen road into pacca raised by public they were suggested to explore the possibilities under the provision of dovetailing under MGNREGA where under resources of line department and MGNREGA can be dovetailed to maintain materials components.
Mr. Suamari Roy, Pradhan Nilambur Gram Panchayat thanked UNNATIA for various training programmes being organized in Baratang for the benefit of unemployed youths and women. She said she will select required number of candidates for conducting training if training is arranged at Nilambur which President, UNNATI already agreed. She also said she will depute training to Port Blair for attending training of masala making powder. She said Self Help Group and Joint Liability group movement is working well in mainland because of active support of concerned department. She also said that family income could be increased and unemployment problem can be solved to grant extent if Self help Group and Joint Liability Group movement get timely support in sanction of loan, marketing outlet created and quality training provided. She added that in all employment opportunities first preference be given to local Self Help Group/ Joint Liability Group instead of outsiders through the process of tender particularly canteen of Andaman Harbor works in all jetties from where they can sell their products also. Mr. Roy George and other public pointed out that construction of road from Baratang Police Station to Baludera need to be improved and made motor able to reach tourist destination.
Mr. Ghayaz Meshack, Vice President, A & N State Coop. Union explained about training programme being organized by Coop. Union. He said UNNATI which is organized various training programmes for the benefit of rural population should take advantage from the same.
