Baratang, April 23: A tragic road accident near Khara Nallah on the route connecting South Creek Market area has claimed the lives of two youths of Baratang Islands, casting a pall of gloom across the region.
According to initial information, three youthgs were travelling on a motorcycle when the accident occurred on the village road. Mr. Subhash Ram (22) a resident of Oralkatcha, who worked as a tourist boat guide, died on the spot due to the impact of the accident.
Mr. Manish Kullu (22) a resident of Khatta Khadi, sustained grievous head injuries in the incident. He was being taken to G.B. Pant Hospital in Sri Vijaya Puram for advanced treatment; however, he succumbed to his injuries on the way near Jirkatang.
The third individual, Ritesh Barla (25) a resident of Bamboo Basti, Wrafters Creek, who is employed as a fibre boat guide, sustained simple injuries and is reported to be out of danger.
The sudden loss of two young lives has deeply affected the local community, with residents expressing shock and grief over the incident.
Meanwhile, Zilla Parishad Member of Baratang, Mr. R. Alager Swami, expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families. He prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and strength to the families to bear the irreparable loss.
