Port Blair, May 29: The Andaman and Nicobar Islands have recorded an overall pass percentage of 69.22 in Class XII CBSE exam with four schools securing 100 percent results. In 2012 the overall pass percentage of A & N Islands in Class XII was 69.96 percent while in 2011 it was 76.67 percent.
The results of All India Secondary School Examination (Class X) and All India Senior School Certificate Examination (Class-XII) 2012-13 have been announced by CBSE on 26th and 27th May, 2013 but the compilation report of overall performance was released by Andaman and Nicobar Islands’ Education Department today.
“Though results are officially awaited from the CBSE, as per the results downloaded from the website of CBSE, out of 5032 students who appeared in Class-XII from the Govt. School/Govt. Aided and Un-Aided Schools in A & N Islands, 3483 students have passed and 994 students have been placed in compartment,” the compilation reports said.
As per the results downloaded, from the website of CBSE in respect of class X of Andaman & Nicobar, out of 6717 No. students who appeared from A & N Islands, 6614 students have been declared Eligible for Qualifying Certificate and 103 students have been placed Eligible for Improvement (EIOP).
“The overall pass percentage of candidates in class X is 98.47.
A total of 70 students have been awarded with 10.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA),” the report added.
55 Schools of A & N Islands have achieved 100% results in class X of which 42 schools are of UT Administration.
As Andaman and Nicobar Islands performed terribly bad even this year, it is sad to note that Goa topped the overall pass percentage race in the Chennai region with 98.87 percent and a 100 percent pass percentage among girls. Karnatka came second with 97.43. At the bottom of pass percentage table are Lakshdweep and Andaman Nicobar Islands with 64.86 and 69.22 percent respectively. The Chennai region comprises TN, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnatka, Daman & Diu and A& N Islands.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray has also expressed disappointment on the poor performance of A & N Islands in CBSE Class XII results. “Government is spending Rs 47 thousands annually per student in our Islands, but the quality of Education is not upto the mark. It is disappointing,” said Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray in his Facebook Status.
