Port Blair, May 28: PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma has written a letter to the Principal Secretary Education Mrs Rina Ray and recorded his gratitude to the Administrator for successfully implementing the India’s flagship programme namely Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) which is intended for achievement of Universalization of Elementary Education (UEE) in a time bound manner by imparting free and compulsory education to the children particularly of the age group of 06 to 14 years. Under this scheme besides opening of new schools and augmentation of infrastructure in the existing school through provision of additional class rooms, toilets, drinking water etc an appreciably large number of teachers have also been appointed to eliminate the inadequacy of the teachers.
Sharma in his letter mentioned that the teachers appointed under this scheme even after serving for nearly a decade are facing an uncharacteristic dilemma of uncertainty of job every time the academic session comes to end, as each time the new academic session commences, the Director of Education starts fresh process of selection of teachers under SSA.
Sharma advocating for the teachers has stated that all these teachers are in possession of qualification prescribed under NCTE (Determination of minimum qualifications for recruitment of teachers in schools) Regulation,2011 and have been selected through due process of selection and therefore need to be exempted from recurring mental, physical and financial agony by providing secured job in recognition of their tireless and selfless service rendered in far flung islands with minimal available facilities.
Sharma has requested Mrs Ray to allow continuous engagement of the already employed teachers of SSA against the regular vacancies of the Directorate of Education.
