Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 10: The Women Helpline-181 under the Directorate of Social Welfare, A&N Administration, organised two-days (2nd& 3rd Dec, 2025) In-person Training Programme for the staff of Women Helpline (181) and One Stop Centre. The training programme was held at WCD Control Room VIP Road.
The aim of the training was to strengthen the skills of helpline staff in handling distress calls, providing psychosocial support, and responding effectively to women during crises.
The Resource Persons Dr Kimneihat Vaiphei, Associate Professor and Dr. Chethna Kishore Assistant Professor from NIMHANS Bangalore briefed on Basic Counselling Skills, Handling Cases of Domestic Violence, Responding to Self-Harm and Suicide, Challenging Calls, and Call Operators Self-Care and Mental Health.
Ms. Meenakshi Jha, Assistant Director, SPNIWCD, New Delhi briefed about the importance of coordination between Women Helpline – 181 and One Stop Centre. To enhance the support services for the client requested the operators to guide efficiently towards solving their issues and extend the available services in terms of shelter, legal assistance, medical care and other essential services based on the needs of the survivor.
Mr. Rajith K P, Project Manager, C-DAC, Trivanandapuram emphasised on the technical part of calls landing in the designed website at the Women Helpline-181, WCD Control Room as well as at One Stop Centre.
The 2 days training program enabled the staff to strengthen their knowledge and practical skills towards call receiving and call responding, self-care, counselling techniques to build confidence and competence in providing support to the client.
The Women Helpline -181 provided 24 hours telecom services to women affected by violence. Women facing any kind of violence can call for help at the toll-free number 181.
One Stop Centre provides integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence and in distress.
