Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 10: In line with the directive issued by the worthy Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to conduct monthly mock drills across departments for strengthening preparedness and promoting discipline, the Directorate of Shipping Services conducted a Fire Mock Drill on 10.12.2025 at Electrical Vehicle Charging Shed, Marine Dockyard, Sri Vijaya Puram.
The drill was conducted under the supervision of the Nodal Officer Disaster Management, DSS and saw active participation from all employees of the DSS building.
As part of the exercise, a total of 23 employees were successfully evacuated to the safe area at Motor Transport Section. The entire exercise was carried out in a coordinated manner, demonstrating efficient response protocols and inter-agency cooperation under the overall supervision of Mr. B.C. Sarkar, Deputy Director (Shipping), DSS. Once the fire was extinguished, all employees returned safely to their respective sections within the Marine Dockyard.
The Directorate remains committed to ensuring the safety of all personnel and assets by conducting such preparedness drills which aims to build a culture of readiness and resilience against disasters like Fire, Tsunami and other emergencies.
