
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 07: As part of the ongoing celebrations of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a series of pre-event activities under the banner of “Sardar@150 – Rashtriya Ekta Padyatra” were successfully organised by the Directorate of Health Services, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, on 6th and 7th November 2025 at Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE), Andaman College (ANCOL), and Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), Port Blair.
The initiative was conducted as a collaborative effort under the Andaman & Nicobar Administration and MY Bharat, supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, as part of the preparatory events leading up to the District-Level Sardar@150 – Rashtriya Ekta Padyatra scheduled at Sri Vijaya Puram on 10th November 2025.
The Health Awareness and Counselling Camps were aimed at promoting the theme of “Unity through Well-being” by encouraging youth to adopt healthy lifestyle practices and enhance their physical and mental fitness — aligning with the vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for a strong, united, and healthy nation.
A team from the Directorate of Health Services (DHS), A&N Administration, led the programme and successfully organised three health camps across the institutions. The team of medical experts included: Dr. Reshma, Medical Officer (RBSK), Dr. Vandana Kumari Singh, Medical Officer (RBSK), Dr. Neena Alex, Medical Officer (RBSK), Dr. Shweta, Medical Officer (RBSK), Dr. Shalini Singh, Medical Officer (RBSK)
During the two-day programme, around 500 students underwent general health screening, health counselling, and awareness sessions on various health and hygiene-related issues. The sessions covered topics such as mental health awareness, nutrition, stress management, adolescent health, and preventive care, empowering the youth to take proactive steps toward holistic well-being.
The pre-event activities served as an inspiring initiative to engage students and volunteers ahead of the Sardar@150 Padyatra, fostering a spirit of unity, service, and responsibility among the younger generation. Participants expressed appreciation for the Administration’s effort in linking the theme of Rashtriya Ekta with public health awareness.
The MY Bharat have expressed their gratitude to the Directorate of Health Services and participating educational institutions for their active involvement and contribution towards the success of the programme.
These activities mark a fitting beginning to the district-level celebrations of Sardar@150 – Rashtriya Ekta Padyatra, reinforcing the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel — unity, strength, and nation-building through community participation and youth empowerment.
