Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 27: The Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, in association with Pankh NGO, organized a first-of-its-kind Swimming Recreational Activity for Divyangjan children last Saturday at Hotel Driftwood, Haddo.
The event witnessed cheerful participation as children enthusiastically took part in fun-filled swimming activities that brought smiles, laughter, and joy all around. The initiative was aimed at promoting physical fitness, confidence, and social inclusion among children with disabilities through water-based recreation.
More than 20 children, accompanied by their parents, participated in the session. The event not only provided a refreshing experience but also helped improve motor coordination, muscle strength, and sensory integration, which are particularly beneficial for Divyangjan children.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director, CRC A&N Islands, expressed gratitude to Mrs. Komal Anand, Pankh, NGO and the management of Driftwood Hotel for their generous support and collaboration. She emphasized that recreational activities like swimming can significantly enhance the emotional well-being and self-esteem of children with disabilities by encouraging them to explore, play, and interact freely in an inclusive environment.
Parents also shared their happiness and appreciation, noting that such initiatives help children gain confidence and independence while offering families a chance to connect and share joyful moments together.
The event concluded with words of encouragement from the organizing team, reaffirming CRC’s commitment to continue such inclusive programmes in the coming months. Plans are underway to introduce professional trainers in future batches to ensure safety and structured skill development.
The CRC team extended heartfelt thanks to Pankh NGO and all volunteers for their active support, as well as to the parents whose cooperation made this event a grand success.
The initiative truly symbolizes the spirit of “Inclusion Through Recreation”, ensuring that every child, irrespective of ability, gets an equal chance to play, learn, and grow.
The CRC, A&N Islands further appeals to the community, especially professional swimming or hydrotherapy trainers, to come forward and extend their expertise in supporting these children. The Centre aspires to gradually include hydrotherapy sessions as part of its regular rehabilitation and recreation programmes for special children.
Those willing to volunteer or collaborate may kindly contact CRC, A&N Islands, to join hands in creating more inclusive, therapeutic, and joyful opportunities for Divyangjan children in the Islands.
