
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 21: The Directorate of Social Welfare takes immense pride in highlighting the inspiring journey of Shri Sekhar Rao, a youth from A&N Islands, who has undertaken a solo awareness drive under the national campaign ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ with the theme ‘Dekho Apna Desh, Apna Andaman’. The initiative was launched on June 26 (International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking) from the historic National Memorial Cellular Jail, symbolizing the spirit of freedom and sacrifice. Since its commencement, the campaign has successfully completed over 110 days, covering numerous locations across the A&N Islands and mainland India, spreading the message of a drug-free, united, and progressive nation.
During his journey across the Islands, Shri Sekhar covered major destinations including Bambooflat, Chouldari, Jirkatang, Baratang, Rangat, Mayabunder, Diglipur, Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep, Little Andaman, and Indira Point. From there, he continued his mission to the mainland through Chennai and travelled multiple States and cities, including Bengaluru, Rameshwaram, Kanyakumari, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Goa, Mumbai, Vadodara, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Agra, Delhi, Amritsar, spreading the message of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ among students, youth, and local communities. The campaign has received appreciation and support from various institutions and local administrations along the way, emphasizing the shared commitment towards building a healthy, drug-free society. In the upcoming phase, Shri Sekhar Rao will continue his solo awareness mission towards Jammu & Kashmir (Lal Chowk), carrying forward the vision of a ‘Drug-Free India, Drug-Free Youth’.
