Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 21:The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs has launched 4 Khelo India Centres (Non-Residential) across A&N Islands, under the Khelo India Scheme and 5 more Khelo India Centres will be launched next month. This initiative aims to identify young sporting talents and provide them with free sports coaching in various sports disciplines. Former Champion Athletes have been engaged as Coach/Mentors at these Centres.

Interested boys and girls at the age group from 10 to18 years have been encouraged to visit these Kehlo India Centres or contact the respective Coaches to join for the free sports coaching classes at these Centres.

Apart from the above 9 KICs, a Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE) will be launched at Netaji Sports Complex, Sri Vijaya Puram tentatively from Dec. 1 in the sports disciplines of Badminton, Cycling and Swimming. This Excellence Centre will provide an expertise sports coaching with the support of Sports Science staff and Sports science equipment to the interested boys and girls from the age group from 10 to 20 years.
