One of the most significant achievements in the field of institutional identity design, Mr. Jag Jeevan Ram has designed official police insignias for three Union Territories, which includes Puducherry Police, Andaman & Nicobar Police and Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Police.
This rare distinction places Mr. Jag Jeevan Ram in a unique league of emblem designers whose work has become part of the visual fabric of India’s law enforcement identity. His designs are not merely symbolic—they embody regional heritage, administrative authority, and institutional integrity.
In addition to this landmark achievement, Mr. Ram also designed the official emblem of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, which was formally unveiled on November 23, 2024, by Lieutenant Governor Admiral D K Joshi (Retd.). The emblem, rich in meaning and symbolism, features key elements representing the islands’ history, biodiversity, and infrastructural progress.
Mr. Jag Jeevan Ram hails from one of the oldest settlements of Port Blair, with a proud lineage tracing back to freedom fighters brought to the islands in the 1860s. His family holds a unique place in history — two of his relatives, Bada Abba and Bua, participated in the iconic event of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s first flag hoisting on 30th December 1943 at Port Blair, where they sang the national song in honor of the momentous occasion.
Mr. Jeevan completed his schooling in Government Schools and college in Port Blair. Professionally, Mr. Jag Jeevan Ram serves as an Administrative Officer at the ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre, Sri Vijaya Puram. In addition to being a disciplined and dedicated government servant, Mr. Jeevan is also a talented artist with a strong command of computer-aided design software. He has a keen interest and proven ability in logo design, consistently showcasing his creative flair alongside his administrative responsibilities.
It’s fascinating how Mr. Jeevan’s passion for decoration, especially during his school days, has shaped his journey, even without a formal design background. The fact that he started with something as rooted in tradition as decorating the Durga Puja Pandal at Netaji Club and continues with everyday items speaks volumes about his creativity and resourcefulness. It shows that design doesn’t always need to be learned in a classroom; it can emerge from personal passion and cultural experiences.
That’s incredibly admirable! Mr. Jeevan’s dedication to offering his aesthetic services without any monetary compensation, especially while balancing it with his own professional duties and working late into the night, really reflects his passion and selflessness. It speaks volumes about his commitment to the craft and his desire to contribute to others, rather than seeking personal gain.
It must make his work even more meaningful to the people he helps—knowing that it’s coming from a place of pure generosity and love for what he does.
His voluntary aesthetic services have been of great help to many departments/ organizations for designing more than 100 logos and insignias. The most popular logo of World Bicycle Day 2022 organised by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. His logos were used during the international events of Andaman & Nicobar Islands being organized by the Andaman Nicobar Command viz. MILAN 2014 and MILAN 2018. His design has been used as the official insignia during operational demonstration Navy Day 2023 during which the Prime Minister of India was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Having his designs used as official insignia is a huge accomplishment and speaks volumes about the quality and impact of his work.
