Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 28: In a significant initiative to promote chess among tribal children, the Education Department successfully conducted chess training classes for the children of Pilobhabi at the Rajiv Nagar Tribal Community Hall, Campbell Bay, the southernmost island of India. The two- day classes were inaugurated by Mr. Titus, Captain of Pilobhabi, in the presence of Mr. Anujesh Rai, Tribal Welfare Officer, Campbell Bay.
The program witnessed an enthusiastic response from children and youth alike, who actively participated in the sessions. The initiative aims to build patience, focus, confidence, and discipline among young minds, while fostering critical thinking, concentration, and problem-solving skills.
A small yet meaningful effort was made to inspire, empower, and develop the next generation through the power of chess. The tribal children quickly grasped the basics of the game, including piece movements and strategies, demonstrating keen interest and remarkable learning ability.
