Port Blair, Apr 22: A meeting of the employees and workers working under the Middle Andaman Forest Division was held at Betapur, Middle Andaman on 20th April, 2013 in which it was decided to revive the Middle Andaman Forest Employees Union and to affiliate the Union with the CITU. A large number of employees and workers from different parts of Middle Andaman and also from the Betapur Govt. Saw Mill attended the meeting. Addressing the large gathering of employees and workers, B. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU A & N State Committee blamed the UPA government and the A & N Administration for not considering various demands of the workers.
Despite Supreme Court judgement, the A & N Administration has failed to regularize the services of daily-rated workers working in various departments under the Administration particularly in the Forest Department, he said. Shri Krishna Das, Secretary, CITU Middle Andaman Zonal Committee and Shri PK Khalid also addressed the meeting.
The meeting also adopted a number of resolutions on (1) modernization of Betapur Govt. Saw Mill in order to improve the production (2) regularization of all the casual labourers working in the Forest Department (3) grant of financial upgradation under MACP Scheme to workers and employees of Middle Andaman Division (4) grant of one increment to all the employees and workers whose annual increment fell from February to June, 2006 (5) repairing of residential accommodation of workers and employees , etc.
