Car Nicobar, Aug. 17:The 79th Independence Day of India was celebrated with great enthusiasm, patriotism, and community spirit across the Nicobar District on August 15. The official function was held at the BJR Stadium, Car Nicobar, with Shri Amit Kale, IAS Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District as chief guest and Shri Rahul Nair, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nicobar as guest of honour.
The celebration began with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Deputy Commissioner, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem. In his Independence Day address, the Deputy Commissioner acknowledged the resilience and unity of the Nicobarese people. “Independence Day is a reminder of the responsibility we all share to build a stronger, inclusive, and progressive India. In the Nicobar District, our efforts continue to focus on sustainable development, improved connectivity, and welfare of the tribal communities,” said Shri Amit Kale.
Cultural programs featuring traditional Nicobarese dances, patriotic songs, and school performances highlighted the diversity and vibrant heritage of the islands. Awards Commendation certificates were distributed to Government officials, frontline workers, and students for their exemplary service and achievements.
The event was attended by Senior officers from the Administration, Police, Air Force, Tribal Leaders, school children, and members of the general public, showcasing the unity and harmony that define the Nicobar District.
