
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 17: The Composite Regional Centre, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at its campus on 15th August 2025 at Brookshabad.
The celebration began with the hoisting of the National Flag by Mrs. Sumithamol S., Director, CRC A&N Islands, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem. In her Independence Day address, the Director highlighted India’s progress towards accessibility, empowerment, and inclusion for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), and reaffirmed CRC’s dedication to delivering quality rehabilitation services across the islands.
Mr. Biswajit Roy, Administrative Officer, extended a warm welcome to the gathering. The day’s programme featured patriotic songs, cultural performances, and inclusive sports events by Children with Special Needs (CwSN) trained under CRC initiatives. The inclusive sports segment aimed to promote participation, teamwork, and confidence among children of diverse abilities.
As a gesture of appreciation and participation gifts were presented to all performers and parents. The celebration concluded with vote of thanks delivered by Mr. T. Y. Abid, Lect in Physiotherapy and distributed refreshments for all attendees, fostering a spirit of togetherness.
The event witnessed active participation from parents, trainees, CRC staff, and community members, making it not just a celebration of India’s freedom, but also a tribute to the values of equality, dignity, and inclusion.
