Port Blair, Apr 1: Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament, expressed his grief and sorrow over the loss of eight human lives including three ladies, in a tragic road accident in Swarajgram, Diglipur on 29.03.2013.
The unfortunate accident occurred in a private loaded truck laden with stone dust which overturned resulting in on the spot death, seriously injuring to two persons and minor injuries to eight others.
All the eighteen Truck loading workers who met with the accident are belonging to very poor families who survived with the only income from their daily wages against the working days.
Mr. Ray conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured persons. He also demanded from the Administration for a thorough investigation and to render suitable livelihood measures with adequate compensation to the survivors.
