Port Blair, Mar 28: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions, Andaman and Nicobar State Committee condemns the indiscriminate attitude on the part of the central government to deny the wages and salary to the workers and employees of the A & N Islands Forest & Plantation Development Corporation Ltd. The wages are not being paid to the workers from February, “2013 while the salary for the employees are due from January, 2013.
The workers of the Corporation are getting the wages fixed in 1994 and since then there was no wage revision for them. Even the wage agreement reached between the management and the Vanvikas Karmachari Sangh (CITU) during June, 2008, is not being implemented as the approval for which is yet to be accorded by the Environment & Forest Ministry of the Government of India. S
imilarly, the scales of pay of the employees working in the Corporation in accordance with the Sixth Central Pay Commission, have not been revised. They are still getting the scales of pay on the basis of the Fifth Central Pay Commission which came into effect from 1.1.1996. Both the employees and workers are pulling on the days with great difficulty during these hard days. The negative and indiscriminate attitude on the part of the UPA government at the Centre has caused widespread discontentment among the employees and workers of the Corporation.
Considering the unfavorable attitude on the part of the management and the central government towards the genuine demands of the employees and workers of the Forest Corporation, the Vanvikas Karmachari Sangh (CITU) has served a notice for agitation on the management of the Corporation, urging it to settle the demands raised by the Union including the implementation of the wage agreement, merger of 50% of DA with pay, etc. A communication from CITU stated.
