
Port Blair, July 14: Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman & Secretary (Rural Development) made a field visit and conducted camp court at Shoalbay Gram Panchayat, the remotest panchayat in the Ferrargunj Tehsil, on 13th July 2024. The Pradhan along with PRIs members and Revenue Officials were part of the visit.
During the visit the Pradhan has highlighted various issues of the Panchayat such as need for parking facilities near Shoalbay-19 Beach, Anganwadi Centre, non-functional Solar Panels and matters related to health, electricity, education etc. and requested to resolve the issues. Discussions were held with Pradhan, PRI members and other stakeholders on ways to tap the tourism potential of the area.
Thereafter, the Deputy Commissioner visited Panchayat Bhawan and interacted with villagers and assured that the grievances shall be taken up at appropriate forum with concerned departments for early redressal of issues.
A Camp Court was held at Shoal Bay Gram panchayat during which hearing of sub-division were conducted and order was passed on the spot. During the camp court the fisher folks of the panchayat raised certain issues and it was assured that a meeting shall be held with the Fisheries Department to resolve the issue. Other revenue matters were also brought up for which directions were issued to the concerned officials.
