Port Blair, Mar 22: A significant Blood Donation Camp was successfully organized today by Nehru Yuva Kendra, in collaboration with the Baha’is Community of Andaman Nicobar Islands and Maharashtra Mandal, Modi Care, A&N Unit, and Khalsa Public School. The event, held at the Auditorium of Maharashtra Mandal, Port Blair, saw the active participation of 50 individuals. However, due to health reasons, some were found ineligible, leaving a commendable total of 33 donors, including 7 female donors, contributing to this noble cause.
Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, was invited to grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. Nevertheless, his support and acknowledgment of the event underscored its significance, demonstrating the community’s commitment to this vital cause. Dr. Sarabjeet Kaur Jagpal, Principal of Khalsa Public School, honored the event as the Guest of Honor. Dr. Jagpal eloquently emphasized the critical need for blood donations, underlining its life-saving impact on individuals in need. Mrs. Shabnam Singh, representing the Baha’is Community, also shared insightful remarks underscoring the importance of collective community efforts towards such humanitarian initiatives.
Dr. Shilpa Sankhe, Blood Bank Officer at ANIIMS shed light on the health benefits of blood donation, emphasizing its positive impact on both donors and recipients. Distinguished guests including Mr. Sanjay Kumar, President of Andaman-Nicobar Blood Association, Mr. Gorakhnath Patil, President of Maharashtra Mandal, Mr. Gagandeep Singh, Dr Anupama Pandey and Dr. Sunita Patil graced the occasion with their presence and shared their valuable insights on the significance of blood donation.
Mrs. Shina Godra and Arvinder Kaur from Modi Care also added their voices to the discussion, highlighting the ongoing needs and challenges in blood supply and emphasizing the crucial role of community engagement. Earlier in the event, Mr. Sukhranjan Biswas, DD (OSD), extended a warm welcome to all attendees, elucidating the pivotal role of Nehru Yuva Kendra and elucidating the aims and objectives behind such blood donation initiatives.
Furthermore, Mr. Gopal Ch Biswas of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Port Blair, eloquently outlined the manifold benefits of blood donation and extended heartfelt gratitude to all participants, donors, organizers, and supporters, culminating in a resounding vote of thanks.
