Port Blair, Feb 12: The Directorate of Social Welfare has initiated an innovative program, Awareness Cum Fitness Programme (Hasgulla Club), as a part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug-Free India Campaign). The club aims to promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle through a combination of fitness activities and laughter therapy. Emphasizing the importance of both physical and mental health in the fight against drug addiction, the Hasgulla Club began its journey with the 22nd Awareness Cum Fitness Program, held at Joggers Park last Sunday.
From the break of dawn at 6:00 AM until 7:30 AM, 25 local participants came together in the serene atmosphere of Joggers Park to engage in a session marked by well-being and recovery through the marvels of yoga and laughter therapy. Under the expert guidance of Sihan M.S. Murgan, the former distinguished Sub Inspector of A&N Police (IRBN) and a noted laughter and yoga proponent, the attendees discovered the transformative power of holistic fitness. The session was a testament to the healing power of laughter and yoga, connecting participants to the essential 5 points of breathing during these exercises. His engaging method and rich experience cultivated an environment where every laugh and every breath signified a step away from addiction and towards overall health.
Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), complemented the event by elucidating on the myriad of benefits laughter yokes for the human spirit and body, as well as delving into important significant points of meditation. These focused discussions provided valuable takeaways for the attendees, intertwining mindfulness with an active lifestyle. He has announced that the Drug Awareness cum Fitness program will continue to be a staple at Joggers Park every Saturday and Sunday. This decision reflects a collective and unwavering commitment towards nurturing a drug-free society by facilitating consistent community engagement and well-being.
The program is open to all and serves as an invitation to embark on a transformational journey of sobriety, fitness, and laughter-filled mornings. These gatherings at the crack of dawn will be held regularly until the end of March, welcoming anyone looking to enrich their life and embrace the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’s vision.
