The State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) under the State Child Protection Society has been working to promote legal adoption and provide assistance to those seeking to adopt. Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), emphasized the importance of legal adoption and highlighted the procedures involved in the adoption process. He informed that adoption is a legal procedure that provides children with a permanent and loving family environment. It is essential to go through the proper channels and ensure that the adoption is conducted in a legal and ethical manner. SARA helps facilitate this process by providing support and guidance to prospective adoptive parents.
Shri G. Koteshwar Rao, Program Manager, SARA informed on raising awareness about adoption and its significance in providing stable homes to children in need. He highlighted the procedures as part of the adoptions. The following are the procedures for adoption:
• Application and Registration: Prospective adoptive parents are required to fill out an application form and register with SARA.
• Home Study: A thorough assessment of the prospective adoptive parents’ home environment and personal background is conducted to ensure their stability for adoption.
• Counseling and Training: SARA provides counseling and training sessions to prepare prospective adoptive parents for the responsibilities of raising an adopted child.
• Matching and Placement: SARA works to match children available for adoption with suitable families and facilitates the placement process.
