Port Blair, Jan 28: Eight political party meeting was held on 25th Jan 2013 to discuss the burning problems of the people of these Islands.
During the meeting the problems such as denial of democratic setup in these islands, closure of the ATR for tourism, Raising prices of essential commodities and vegetables, reduction in supply of subsidized gas cylinders , non fulfilment of vacant posts in administration’s departments, Inadequate supply of drinking water, power cut were discussed.
Further it was concluded that “One Man Rule” in Andaman has totally failed to solve the problems of the common people, hence a demand for Assembly for these Islands was raised.
It was further decided that in order to get Self Rule Left &
Democratic Front was formed with two members from each party and Mr. K.G. Das was elected as conveyor.
“More parties are invited to frame the Front Action Plan on 30th January. Further the common people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands were requested to extend their support for establishing democracy,” a release by Mr. K G Das said here today.
