Port Blair, Oct 17: The ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker has brought the attention of Chief Secretary, A&N Administration towards the shortage of Assistant Professors and Professors in the Andaman Law College which is hampering the educational requirement of local students of Andaman & Nicobar Islands who wish to pursue their career in law.
In the letter, Mr. Bhasker stated that at present there is only one faculty of law available in the Andaman Law College and as a result, the lone faculty member is unable to teach all students. As such, the class hours in a day is also reduced to mere two hours. This will not only lead to non-completion of syllabus on time but will also reflect on the marks of students in the semester examinations.
Further, he said that several students are coming to the college from far flung areas by spending daily transportation expenses. But even after travelling such a long distance they only get 2 hours of class to attend and have to return back to their homes.
He suggested that the recruitment of Professors would also automatically increase the strength of students in Andaman Law College in the future.
Hence, he requested the Chief Secretary to take serious note on this issue and appoint adequate number of Assistant Professors and Professors in Andaman Law College on priority basis.
