Port Blair, Jan 09: Under the aegis of A&N State Social Welfare Board, Port Blair, the Zansi Rani Mahila Mandal, Hut Bay organized Awareness Generation Programme in the hall of Andaman & Lakshadweep Harbor Work (ALHW) at Little Andaman on 08/01/2013 at 10.30 am.
More than 400 women from Hut Bay and nearby villages participated in the programme which was inaugurated by Smti. Ratna Kannan, Chairperson, A&N State Social Welfare Board by lighting a traditional oil lamp and presided by Smti. Pappi Naidu, President, Zansi Rani Mahila Mandal. During the camp, the resource persons who have delivered the speech were from Revenue Department Shri. Jivraj Krishen, Tehsildar, Smti. Suniti Tikadar, Mukiya Sevika, ICDS, Smti. Konjumol, Pradhan, Netaji Nagar, Ms. Nadira Begum, Principal, Senior Sr. Sec. School, Hut Bay, Deputy Chief Engineer, ALHW, Division Forest Officer on the subject they are related.
Smti. S. Rani Pande, Secretary, A&N Social Welfare Board also spoke on the occasion about the schemes run by the Social Welfare Board for the welfare of Women and children in these islands. The Pradhan, Hut Bay Shri. Jagamaya was also present during the camp.
Smti. Ratna Kannan, Chairperson in her address stressed for women awareness which is very vital for achieving empowerment. The women in all respects should come forward in understanding the programme available for their development and get benefited.
