Port Blair, Jan 08: Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament, A & Nicobar Islands has written a letter to the Lt Governor, A & Nicobar Islands and requested him to reduce the cut off marks of CTET Exam from 60% to 50% at least for coming 05 years.
In a letter addressed to LG, Mr. Ray stated that the GOI has introduced new system i.e., compulsory pass in the CTET exam for the appointment to the Post of Teachers with at least 60% marks i.e., 90 marks out of 150 marks. “The exam is being introduced and conducted by the CBSE at All India level. And the results from the last three exams passing ratio is 1.5% to 02% of total candidates appearing in the examination from the A & N Islands.” Mr. Ray wrote in his letter.
Further, Mr. Ray said that after the introduction of CTET the students of these Islands unable to join any Govt, or Private Schools and most of the candidates verge of crossing the maximum age limit ear marked by the GOI for entering the Govt. Jobs are the only source of livelihood in the absence of big Industries and other Central Govt. Organizations.
“In order to promote education in A & N Islands we have to provide special concession by bringing the cut off marls to 50% at least for coming 05 years,” he said.
