Port Blair, Jan 07: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, PCC President has requested the Lt Governor to lower the minimum qualifying percentage of Central Teachers Eligible Test (CTET) of CBSE from 60% to 50% by allowing special exemption for the candidates of these Islands.
In the recent result of CTET-2012 declared by the CBSE only 50 to 60 candidates could clear the test and according to the directions of the Government, only these candidates can be appointed as teachers in the AN Education department whereas at present the Education Department has 250 vacancies of teachers.
Advocating for the local candidates, Mr. Sharma has written a letter to the Lt Governor and stated that in these islands, no proper guidance centres or facilities are available for those candidates appearing in CTET or any such competitive examinations.
“When our candidates have passed JBT/B.Ed examinations, for which they received proper training college/guidance here, they could have passed CTET also in case proper guidance /training would have been given to them”, wrote Mr. Sharma in his letter.
Further Mr. Sharma has requested to the Administrator to reduce the qualifying marks to 50% or consider re-conducting of the test, due to non availability of CTET qualified teachers.
