
Port Blair, June 19: District Police arrested 03 persons involved in illegal cow trafficking which is operating from Mayabunder to Port Blair using the sea route.
On 17/06/2023, PS Mayabunder Police was on patrol to gather intelligence and curb the menace of illegal activities at coastal areas. Meanwhile, on receipt of information from Coast Guard the Police team comprising Inspector Abdul Arif, SI Dinesh Meena, PCs Dilleshwar Rao, Balraju and Sashi Kumar Das of PS Mayabunder responded swiftly and rushed to the spot and seized an engine dinghy along with cows and interrogated the individuals who are indulged in illegal transportation of cows.
The indefatigable efforts resulted in the arrest of 03 individuals directly involved in illegal cow trafficking. Accordingly, a legal action has been initiated against all 03 accused as per law. The seized cows, which were subjected to inhumane conditions during transportation, were promptly rescued and kept under proper care.
The successful arrest and strict action against the illegal cow traffickers not only serves as a deterrent to such illicit activities but also sends a strong message that the North & Middle Andaman District Police will not tolerate any form of cruelty towards animals.
The district police are committed to taking stringent legal action against the individuals involved in such activities, dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of the community, and will continue their relentless efforts to combat all forms of criminal activities. The whole operation was carried under the overall supervision of Superintendent of Police, N & M Andaman District.
