Port Blair, Jan 04: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC along with PRI members met with the Chief Secretary Mr. Anand Prakash today and briefed about the acute problems of present elected members of not having fund to undertake repairing work of roads, maintenance works and other developmental activities, for which they have face public annoyance.
During the meeting, Mr Sharma said that almost all the bye-lanes under Zilla Parishad and Municipal council remain unattended for want of fund. “People of those bye-lanes don’t even want to see these PRIs members near their areas when they go to brief about their difficulties.
Further, Mr. Sharma stated that the amount so sanctioned for the current financial year is being used to pay off the backlogs for last 5 to 6 years. Hence, Mr. Sharma has requested to the Chief Secretary to consider one time settling of the previous backlogs and issue fresh funds to the PRIs for taking up repairing of roads and other developmental works on priority basis, which they were unable to take up after resuming to their office.
Later, Mr. Sharma has also requested the Chief Secretary for his early consideration to this effect before the rainy season so that these works can be started immediately. The Chief Secretary reportedly assured to solve the problems of the PRI members at the earliest.
