Port Blair, Apr 23: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to convert the parking area of GB Pant Hospital into a multilevel parking area.
He said that this will help accommodate hundreds of vehicles without blocking the road of G B Pant hospital and will also ensure the smooth movement of ambulances during emergencies.
In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament mentioned that the present parking area of the hospital is grossly inadequate to accommodate the ever-increasing number of vehicles of patients, medical staff, attenders, and OPD patients. This has resulted in a huge rush in the parking area, causing inconvenience to the patients, attenders, and medical staff, and often leading to traffic congestion.
He added that due to the lack of sufficient parking space, people are forced to park their vehicles along the Cellular Jail Road, leading to further traffic congestion and blocking the movement of ambulances in case of emergencies.
