Port Blair, Dec 18: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair organized “Training cum Demonstration of Farm Implements’ ‘ at Humfrygunj. A total of 30 numbers of farmers and PRI members of Humfrygunj Gram Panchayat are benefitted from the program. The program was conducted on the concept of learning by doing method and the farmers themselves operated the farm implements suitable for the farming system of the islands. Farm implements like manually leg operated coconut and areca nut debunkers, manual coconut tree climber and manual areca nut pucker are demonstrated in the program. Dr. B. K. Nanda, Subject Matter Specialist (Agri. Engg.) coordinated the training cum demonstration program with guidance from Dr. Y. Ramakrishna, Principal Scientist cum Head, KVK and Dr. Eaknath B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair.
