Port Blair, Nov 18: World antimicrobial awareness week (WAAW) is a global campaign that isobserved every year from 18th to 24th November and theme for the year 2022given by WHO is “preventing antimicrobial resistance together”.
In this Regard, Directorate of Health services, Andaman & Nicobar IslandsInstitute of medical sciences in association with Andaman and NicobarChemist and Druggist Association has organized a awareness programme with aaim to improve awareness and understanding of AMR and encourage bestpractices among the public, health stakeholders who all play a criticalrole in reducing the further emerges and spread of AMR.Dr ShahinaMustaqim, senior microbiologist, Assistant professor DHS, ANIIMShighlighted the need for multispectral action to prevent and contain AMR.Pharmacy stakeholders from around the corner of islands and nursingfaculties participated in the program.
