Port Blair, Sep 11: A delegation of CPI (M) led by Mr. Nikunjo Biswas, State Secretariat Member met the Chief Medical Officer, Billiground on 10th September 2022 and discussed various issues related to the health care facilities in the PHC Billiground and surrounding areas.
The CPI (M) delegation discussed the issues of (1) Upgradation of PHC Billiground to CHC and posting of Specialist Doctors (2) Ensuring availability of sufficient medicines at PHC Billiground(3) Non-availability of X-ray technicians (4) R.O water machine is not in working condition since last 4 – 5 years (5) Shortage of Ward Boy and Watchman in the PHC for the last more than one year (6) Ophthalmologist Assistant(Eye Technician) is going to retire on 30th September 2022 and hence substitute should be posted in advance (7) One generator set is urgently required for the PHC, Billiground (8) To provide RAM between the old building and new building of PHC (9) provision for a Conference/Meeting Hall at PHC Billiground (10) Filling up of the vacant post of NRHM Medical Officer which is lying vacant for more than one year (11) To provide boundary wall of PHC and (12) To set up Sub Centre at Laxminallah/Duke Nagar as land for the building allotted but building not constructed.
The Chief Medical Officer assured the delegation that he will take up the demands with higher authorities for taking necessary action. The delegation informed the CMO that if these demands are not resolved immediately, the party will launch agitation by organizing the people.
The other members of the CPI (M) delegation were Mr. Rahul Dev Mridha, State Committee Member and Mr. SR Mridha, Secretary, Middle Andaman Area Committee.
