Mayabunder, July 19: In the history of A & N Islands, one criminal case u/s POCSO Act was finalized just within twelve days from the date of lodging FIR by the unfortunate victim girl and the said case is ended in conviction.
The victim girl, aged about fifteen years at first had been to medical for check-up with her mother and on examination, doctor declared the victim girl as pregnant on 06/07/2022 and then & there, the victim girl had been to Kadamtala Police Station. When the information relating to the aforesaid unfortunate incident was received, Sub- Inspector/ Mariam attached with Rangat Police Station rushed to the Kadamtala Police Station under the instruction of her superior police officers and she recorded the statement of victim girl instantly.
The investigation started to role on within short span of time, the matter was charge-sheeted and on the very day as per provision of law envisaged u/s 309 Cr.P.C, Shri. Keshab Ch. Mondal, Learned Special Public Prosecutor (POCSO Act) urged for expeditious disposal of the aforesaid case being Kadamtala PS FIR No.15 of 2022 dated 06/07/2022 and Learned Defence Counsel conceded the same. The charge was framed u/s 6 of POCSO Act against the accused person namely Binoy Roy. The trial was concluded and argument was heard and the accused Binoy Roy was found guilty being the (Uncle) “Jethu” of the unfortunate victim girl.
Shri. JimutBahan Biswas, Hon’ble Special Judge (POCSO Act), Mayabunder while sentencing the convict, Binoy Roy to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life, which shall mean imprisonment for the remainder of natural life of that person.
The Hon’ble Court further awarded a compensation of Rs. 5,00,000/- to the victim girl and entrusted upon the Government the responsibility of disbursing the compensation amount within 30 days or through the Office of District Legal Services Authority, A & N Islands.
The entire case was investigated by SI/ Mariam under the guidance of SI / B. Satyawati, I/C PS and SI / Abdul Rahaman, SHO, PS Kadamtala which was appreciated and recommended to award the Investigation Officer for industrious and good investigation. The aforesaid investigation of the case was closely monitored and supervised by Smti. GeetanjaliKhandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police (D), Mayabunder.
