Port Blair, Jul 19: The State Secretariat of the CPI (M) has urged the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands to direct the police to conduct the investigation properly in Diglipur violence case and to bring all the alleged culprits to book. State Secretariat of CPI (M) further urged the authorities concerned to take all possible measures to ensure that nobody disturbs the harmony prevailing in the islands and to continue to keep the union territory as a Mini India.
A businessman of Diglipur was brutally attacked and his business establishments destroyed on 12th July 2022 alleging his involvement in a cow slaughter case.
CPI (M) alleged that even though FIRs were registered and the details of the accused had been furnished by the family members of the affected shopkeeper to the police but no actions were taken by the authorities to arrest the accused persons involved in the violence. The State Secretariat of the CPI (M) alleged that a fear psychosis is prevailing in Diglipur as anybody can be attacked at any time.
Mr. D. Ayyappan, Secretary, State Organising Committee of the CPI (M) who rushed to Diglipur on hearing the communal violence, met the family members of the affected shopkeeper at Diglipur. The family members told him that all the five shops/godowns they owned at Diglipur have been looted and damaged and whatever they earned during the last 20 years had been destroyed. They also told the CPI (M) State Secretary that nobody from the Administration or any other political parties have met them after this violent incident.
