Port Blair, Jul 19: Second day in a row, people of RGT road, Shadipur and adjoining areas witnessed a nearly four-hour long power cut today. People also witnessed low voltage issues and found themselves helpless as most of the people have no idea why they are witnessing such a long power cut.
When Andaman Sheekha Daily contacted a senior officer in the Electricity Department regarding the power cut in RGT road and Shadipur area, he informed that yesterday morning fault was identified in feeder transmission line substation to the distribution points of Nayagaon, in that cable joint of power lines were found punctured near Gandhi Park area due to moisture and old cable lines.
He said that immediately, the Electricity Department commenced the repair works and by evening the problem was rectified and the power was restored.
“Due to this problem, the Sub Station Feeder of Nayagaon area interrupted and Shadipur, RGT, Nayagaon, Bargat Line, and Carbyn areas were shut down, which was the reason why people faced the power-cut problem,” the official added.
